Each year, IU’s top student organizations and student leaders receive recognition for going above and beyond to create memorable and meaningful experiences for students, both within their organizations and beyond.
Nominations for the 2025 Student Organization Awards are now open! Nominate outstanding organizations, leaders, advisors, and events for this year's awards.

Advisor of the Year:
Presented to a student organization advisor who has demonstrated outstanding contributions. This person is one who has had a profound impact on a student organization by providing a welcoming, inclusive, and enthusiastic environment. The advisor positively influences the student organization, both the individuals and the group, to help them achieve their goals and mission.
Up-and-Coming Student Leader:
This award is given to a student who shows exceptional promise in an organization or club at IU. This student may not necessarily hold a leadership position yet, but their participation and presence in the organization's activities prove them to be a valuable leader in the group.
Student Leader of the Year:
This award is given to a student who has made a monumental impact on an organization through their leadership and has moved the organization forward. This student should show exceptional passion and care for their organization's mission, members, and the IU community.
Student Organizations are encouraged to apply for recognition in all relevant categories. All nominations will be reviewed by a committee that will determine the winners. The awards for student organizations are:
Community Building:
Presented to a student organization that has created a unique community space on campus for students to express themselves. This includes student organizations that are focused on a particular hobby, passion, or interest and which allow students to find a community they may not be able to find elsewhere on campus.
Community Service & Advocacy:
Presented to a student organization that demonstrates through action the importance of serving the campus, community, country, and/or world, and dedicates their work to advocating for those in these communities. These actions can include, but are not limited to, hands-on service activities, philanthropic efforts, and civic engagement-related pursuits that strive toward bettering a particular issue, population, or community.
Diversity, Inclusion, & Social Justice:
Presented to a student organization that demonstrates an active commitment to issues of diversity, inclusion, and social justice. This could be demonstrated through actions such as programming efforts, collaboration, and/or community building. This award highlights a student organization that focuses on coordinating events, programs, and other efforts that support diversity, inclusion, and social justice.
Event of the Year:
Presented to a student organization that held an outstanding event for the IU community during the past year. The organization should have successfully navigated the event planning process, showed critical thinking and problem-solving skills, welcomed a diverse group of participants, and enriched the co-curricular experience of IU students.
Leadership Development:
Presented to a student organization that facilitates leadership development and promotes leadership opportunities for its members, the campus, and/or the community. This student organization may have developed a leadership philosophy, promoted lectures for guest speakers, organized and managed retreats and workshops, or created other leadership development activities.
New Organization of the Year:
Presented to an organization that is considered fairly new but that is making great strides to positively impact its members or the IU community. The New Organization of the Year should show exceptional promise in the areas of community engagement, collaboration, advocacy, diversity & inclusion, and/or leadership development.
Student Organization of the Year:
Presented to a student organization that has demonstrated excellence in the areas of community engagement, collaboration, diversity and inclusion, and/or leadership development. This organization is one that makes a substantial impact on its members and the IU community.
