Parents Advisory Board

The Parents Advisory Board at Indiana University Bloomington has direct contact with the Dean of Students and gives important input in the programs and services supported by the Office of Student Life. Members are selected every year from nominations received from faculty, staff, alumni, current board members, and self-nomination.

Apply or nominate someone for the board

Board Member Responsibilities

Share your time

  • Attend board meetings twice a year, in November and February
  • Share input with the Dean of Students and the Office of Student Life about timely campus and higher education topics
  • Learn about current issues, programs, and events
  • Share information with other parents

Engage in campus programs

  • Sponsor or host programs for future IU students and families
  • Attend IU Preview Days in your local community
  • Assist with orientation
  • Speak on a panel with other parents
  • Help with move-in days, Homecoming, Greek awards, and other campus activities
  • Serve as an ambassador for IU

Show your support

  • Receive training on how to support your student, other students, and families at IU Bloomington
  • Meet with IU Bloomington staff to learn about initiatives and programs that help students learn and thrive at IU and after graduation

Support fundraising efforts

Help raise funds for the Office of Student Life, for example: annual gifts to the Parents Fund campaign and endowed funds for specific student life programs
