Sororities and fraternities have been on the IU Bloomington campus since 1845. Almost 8,000 students at IU are members of the sorority and fraternity community, making up approximately 24% of the undergraduate student body. By joining a sorority or fraternity, you have the opportunity to continue a legacy at IU and make your mark on the community.
As you consider joining a sorority or fraternity at Indiana University, it is important that you do your research. Talk to members of the community about their experience, review council and chapter websites, think about how your values connect to various chapters’ values and ask important questions such as “What is the cost of being a member?” and “How many hours should I plan to commit each week to my sorority/fraternity membership?” We encourage you to keep an open mind so that you can find the best chapter for you.
