Leadership Programs

Leadership courses

Leadership courses are offered through the School of Education and are open to all IU Bloomington students. Classes are offered during the fall and spring semesters. If you are interested in being an instructor for a leadership course, email leadiu@iu.edu.

Leadership Training is a course focused on preparing student leaders to address current issues on campus and in their communities. Discover your own individual strengths and personal values, examine communication skills and group dynamics, and discuss theories in leadership to enact positive social change in themselves, in their community, and beyond.

The “FIP” gives students an opportunity to enhance their leadership skills while increasing their knowledge of Indiana University Student Government through experiential learning. Students will be paired with an IUSG mentor and work toward implementing a project with real impact on the IU Campus. Learn more on the IUSG website.

Understand the socioeconomic context of the founding of the American fraternity and sorority movement. Reflect and evaluate how the values of these organizations have been maintained over time, and demonstrate the relevance of fraternities and sororities in the twenty-first century.

This course is for students in the fraternity / sorority community who identify as emerging Jewish leaders. The class curriculum highlights the overlap between Greek and Jewish values and provides ways for students to weave these values together. This course also challenges students to build their leadership competencies and skills.

This course builds upon participant knowledge of the Indiana Memorial Union Board and develops leadership skills along with practical skills needed to be successful as a Union Board director. Emphasis will be placed on the role the college union and union board play in the overall IUB co-curricular experience.

This course is a 1-credit hour course during the second 8 weeks of the Spring 2024 semester. This interactive class teaches students to engage and communicate constructively across differences through online modules and facilitated in-person group discussions. The course is offered by the School of Education and is a hybrid format beginning on March 4, 2024. Skills gained will be extremely beneficial for student organization leaders and anyone working with diverse groups.
