Apply for the Family Support Grant

Financial support for IU’s military families

The Veterans Family Support Grant provides $2,000 per academic year (fall and spring semesters) to a veteran or service member who is supporting a child or children under 18 while enrolled full time at Indiana University Bloomington. (The grant amount is the same regardless of the number of children under 18.) The funds are unrestricted and may be used for any educational purpose.

Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. We encourage you to apply when the application becomes available. The applications will remain open until October 15, and the grant will be applied to your bursar bill within three weeks after that.

Please note that this grant will be applied to any balance on your bursar bill first, then any remainder will be refunded.

Eligibility

The child(ren) supported by the student may be biological or adopted, or (a) stepchild(ren). At least one dependent child must be under 18 as of the first day of the fall semester. It is not required that the child(ren) live with the student.

If both a child’s parents are veterans or service members enrolled full time at IU Bloomington, each is eligible for a separate grant.

The student does not have to use VA education benefits to be eligible for the grant.
