This award is in memory of Susan Butler, the mother of Margaret Butler Snow, a supporter of Indiana University during the Great Depression. This $2,500 award is given to a rising senior woman for outstanding scholarship and character.

To be considered for the Susan Butler Award, you must complete the online application by clicking the link below.
Apply HereRequired application materials, which will be uploaded to the online application form, include:
- A general scholarship application that includes information you have listed on your resume, including academic achievements, extracurricular activities, campus and community services, and any honors or awards you have received.
- A one-page essay (no more than 700 words) answering the following prompt: Please describe one of your outstanding academic achievements.
- A one-page essay (no more than 700 words) answering the following prompt: Describe how your leadership and involvement in campus activities have made an impact on the Indiana University community.
- A list of contact information that includes three individuals who will write letters of recommendation for you. Letters from IU faculty, administrative staff, and employers are preferred. The letters should address your academic success, student leadership on campus, and service at the local, regional, and/or national levels.
Eligibility requirements
To apply for the Susan Butler Award
- Have junior standing during the academic year you apply
- Must be a woman and a U.S. Citizen
- Preference is given to students with a 3.75 GPA or higher.
