Scholar resources

The support you need

Groups Scholars have access to a comprehensive suite of academic programs, scholarship opportunities, and other support services to assist them throughout their education journey at IU. Our commitment is to be a partner in this process. With the support of the Groups Scholars Program, students can take advantage of the following resources:

Our academic advisors are here to help! They will work with you as you explore your academic interests and choose a major; develop plans to reach your academic, personal, and career goals; connect you to campus resources and opportunities; help you overcome obstacles on the path to your established goals; and more. Advisors are available 300 North Eagleson Avenue. Current students may schedule an appointment with their Groups Academic Advisor.

For more information on courses and degree requirements, see Advising and Major Exploration Services.

The Ambassadors Program is a program in which outstanding junior and senior Groups Scholars are invited to serve. It is a chance for older students to give back to the Groups Scholars Program by assisting staff with programs, presentations and serve as guides to incoming Groups Scholars. The Ambassadors Program is open to all Groups Scholars who have completed the requisite hours to be granted sophomore status. Contact Corryn Anderson at corrande@iu.edu for additional information.

Students are matched with mentors (faculty, graduate, peer) to develop a support system, increase confidence, and provide critical information important for completing a degree in STEM discipline. Mentors maintain regular contact with mentees, offering social and academic support, as well as advice about study skills, time management, diversity issues, and work/life balance. Scholars also have opportunities to network with faculty, researchers and professionals, attend and present their research at scientific conferences, and develop a STEM portfolio.
