The Indiana Tuition and Fee Exemption for Children of Disabled Veterans (CVO) is not a VA benefit. To apply, you must:
- Submit your application through ScholarTrack
- Complete and file your FAFSA
- Read the detailed Instruction Letter
What CVO covers
This benefit is processed by the IU Financial Aid office, not the Center for Veteran and Military Students. CVO covers tuition only. It does not provide:
- A monthly stipend
- Housing or dining costs
- Books or other fees
In-state tuition requirement
You must be assessed in-state tuition to use the CVO benefit. If you are currently being charged out-of-state tuition, you may need to establish Chapter 35 benefits to qualify for in-state tuition under IU policy VPSO-08.
Important information
Eligibility requirements for CVO and Chapter 35 are different. Understanding key details will help you avoid details or unexpected charges. CVMS cannot determine your eligibility for either benefit. Before using this benefit, carefully review the Instruction Letter for:
- Payment timelines
- Enrollment requirements
- Your responsibilities
- How funds are applied to your account
